Eric Bugeja began his musical studies under the guidance of Mario Ciantar and later with George Curmi. In 2017 he graduated with a B.A (Hons) in violin performance from the University of Malta, under the direction of Ms. Natalia Filipenko Prof. Michael Laus and Mr. Mario Bisazza. Throughout this period he has studied harmony under the direction of Mro. Manoel Pirotta, Prof. Charles Zammit and Mro. Ray Sciberras. Following the degree, Eric Bugeja furthered his studies privately in London, under the direction of Prof. Remus Azoitei (RAM) and Mr. Carmine Lauri, and also locally, under the mentorship Ms. Agnieska Kuzma, Mr. Reggie Clews and Mr. Antoine Frendo. The tuition in London was generously supported by the BOV Joseph Calleja Foundation. Throughout the past years he participated in violin masterclasses conducted by Prof. Sarah Sew (Royal Irish Academy of Music): Prof. Pierre Amoyal, Prof. Gottfried Schneider, Prof. Adrian Butterfield, Mr. Yuri Zhislin, Prof. David Watkin and recently by Prof. Lukas Hagen at the Accademia di Musica di Pinerolo.
His past orchestral experiences include, the Bisyoc Intercultural Youth Orchestra in 2016, Malta Youth Orchestra, EUYO Octet among other institutions. He played with the Malta Philharmonic Orchestra, led the St Paul Metropolitan Orchestra from 2017 - 2022, and is currently section leader at the Malta Concert Orchestra.
Eric currently teaches violin at the Malta School of Music and The Malta Visual and Performing Arts School.
