Elena Muscat

SCHOLAR DESCRIPTION

Born in 1999 in Birkirkara, Malta. Edinburgh Napier University, Scotland, Bachelor of Music Honours First Class Graduate (July 2022) Scotland, focusing on viola performance, music transcriptions and music compositions.

Performed various solo performances in Scotland and Malta. A very active orchestra player, participating with the Universities of Scotland Symphony Orchestra, the Edinburgh University Symphony Orchestra, the Valletta International Baroque Ensemble and served as a sub-principal of BISYOC 2019’s viola section. Served as a leader to the Malta Youth Orchestra’s and Edinburgh Napier Chamber Ensemble’s viola section and have joined the Malta Philharmonic on multiple times. The National Youth Orchestras of Scotland chose Elena as the Leader of the viola section for the Spring and Summer tour of 2022. In 2023, Elena was chosen again as the ambassador, pear and section leader to the violas for the spring tour and concerts in Edinburgh and Glasgow. Recently she has been on tour with the Malta Youth Orchestra in Tuscany, were they performed concerts at prestigious venues.

She is currently working as an assistant archivist to the Mdina Metropolitan Cathedral Archives in Malta, home to thousands of music manuscripts dating from the 12th century.
