Gabrielle Portelli

SCHOLAR DESCRIPTION

Gabrielle is a 23-year-old Soprano. She is currently studying classical voice at Diploma level at the Malta School of Music guided by Soprano Miriam Cauchi. She is also a B.A in Theatre Studies and Psychology graduate.

Recently, Gabrielle was a winner in Malta School of Music’s concerto competition, earning her a solo performance at the Manoel Theatre accompanied by the Malta Youth Orchestra in the upcoming season 2024-2025.

Last year, Gabrielle has made her solo debut at the Manoel Theatre during “An Evening of Italian Opera Scenes” with Malta School of Music Opera Studio, which she is an active member of.

In December 2023, Gabrielle sang during a Maltese mass held at St Peter’s Basilica in Rome and performed during the Christmas concert “Venite Adoremus” at Sant’ Andrea della Valle Basilica, also in Rome.

In Summer 2024, she was an active participant during master classes with Maestra Sumi Jo in Vienna whom she was given the funds to attend by the BOV Joseph Calleja foundation.

Gabrielle was also one of 12 chosen participants in a three-week masterclass in Germany called “Oper Oder Spree” 2022 and was awarded a scholarship to attend the masterclass again in Summer 2023. She was supported by the foundation on both occasions.

Gabrielle will be a part of the Opera Nova Project 2024/25 led by Gillian Zammit and Denise Mulholland along with other solo recitals and concerts, namely with Barocco Foundation and The Jesuits’ Church Foundation.
