Rachel Gauci pursued both science and music, earning a Bachelor of Science (Honours) in Pharmaceutical Science and a Master of Pharmacy from the University of Malta while studying piano with Gisèle Grima. She later moved to France to study at the Conservatoire du Grand Avignon with Véronique Muzy and Andrea Corazziari, earning a Diplôme d'Études Musicales. During this time, notable performances included performing in a masterclass with composer Thierry Escaich and the premier of an ensemble work by Olivier Calmel.
Rachel refined her musical studies at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland, where she earned a Master of Music in Piano Performance, studying with Fali Pavri, Sinae Lee and Sasa Donaldson. She worked with renowned vocal coaches like Malcolm Martineau, Pascal le Corre and Lydia Brown and participated in masterclasses with Petras Geniušas, Yuri Didenko, Aaron Shorr, Roy Howat and Mikhail Petukhov amongst others.
Her performances span France, Austria, and the UK. In April 2024, Rachel made her solo recital debut at the Teatru Manoel as part of the Malta Spring Festival. She has received multiple scholarships from Arts Council Malta for international masterclasses, as well as a full scholarship for masterclasses at Mozarteum University in Salzburg. Rachel is a recipient of the Malta Arts Scholarships, the Janatha Stubbs Foundation, and the BOV Joseph Calleja Foundation.
