Alexander Bartolo

SCHOLAR DESCRIPTION

My name is Alexander Bartolo. I am 17 years old and currently studying classical ballet/contemporary and modern dance on a vocational level at The Zurich Dance Academy (taZ) within the Zurich University of the Arts.

It all started at the age of 11 when I joined dance classes at a leading dance school in Malta. This quickly became my passion and the realisation that a dance career was to be my future path.

In November 2021 I was awarded a Scholarship at the Ballettschule Theater Basel (BTB), Switzerland and following an audition for full-time vocational training at BTB I was accepted as a full-time student. In June 2023 I successfully completed my first year at BTB. Following various auditions at leading dance schools in Europe, in August 2023, I enrolled as a full-time student at taZ. I have now completed my first year of studies at taZ and am now in my second year.

Studying here at taZ is a great opportunity because of the wealth of experience and training I am receiving from leading dance teachers. Moreover I have made new friends from all over the world who like me share a passion for dance. The combination of hard work and living with other dancers away from home and sharing dreams and experiences makes this a real and concrete platform for me to grow both as a person and more importantly as a dancer.

My dream is to complete this course and move on to auditioning for companies and hopefully be accepted into a good company to pursue my career in professional dance.
