Upon completing her studies in pharmaceutical science, she returned to her childhood dreams and where her heart beats, music and went to study abroad, first in France and then in Scotland where she has just graduated with masters in music as a pianist. Back in Malta, Rachel Gauci will give a solo piano concert tomorrow.
Rachel Gauci has just graduated with a Masters in Piano from the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland, considered among the best conservatories in the world. Before the two years of study in Glasgow, she spent four years studying piano at the Avignon Conservatory in France.
Rachel is 29 years old, she started learning the piano in Malta when she was only 7 years old and she graduated from the University of Malta in Pharmaceutical Science. The passion for the piano led her to later continue to study music/ In addition to academic achievements, she said that the experience in Scotland offered her great opportunities.
"At the Royal Conservatory of Scotland there were many opportunities to play and I used to study with several professors from around the world and it was also an opportunity to mix with artists coming from many different artists." Rachel Gauci
Rachel Gauci told TVMnews that she practices the piano between five and seven hours a day. On Wednesday evening she will give her first concert at the Malta Society of Arts, the City.
"I will be playing major works by Brahms, Liszt and Janacek, there will be works that are quite well known but there will also be works that are not well known." Rachel Gauci
In studying the piano, Rachel benefited from several scholarships including those from the Maltese Council for the Arts to attend several masterclasses.
