The fifth edition of the BOV Joseph Calleja Fund Raising Concert is being held on Friday, 27th October 2017 at the prestigious Throne Room at the Grandmaster’s Palace in Valletta. Following the concert, Patrons will be invited to attend a reception at the Casino Maltese.

The annual fund raiser will feature Joseph Calleja performing along with a number of the 28 Scholars who have been supported thus far by the Foundation. All proceeds from the Concert will go towards the BOV Joseph Calleja Foundation.

The Maltese Tenor explained how over the past year, the Foundation has sponsored additional Scholars, increasing the number to 28. Furthermore, in addition to Voice Scholars (sopranos, mezzo sopranos, baritones and tenors), the Scholars include dancers, actors, instrumentalists and composers. “I look forward to this Concert every year,” explained Joseph Calleja. “I am really eager to perform alongside these exceptional talents during this event, which is also a small way of thanking our Patrons, who share our dream and support us and the Scholars all the way,” continued Joseph Calleja.

As Mr Roderick Chalmers, Chairman of Board of Trustees explained, the Foundation has a two-pronged focus, ‘the gifted youth’ and ‘the vulnerable child’.  “The vulnerable child’ arm sees the Foundation partnering with a number of organisations with a view to developing specific programmes that aim to assist the development of underprivileged children. Meanwhile, ‘the gifted youth’ takes under its wings talented young artists from Malta and Gozo, who are furthering their studies in the world of the performing arts, but who need support and encouragement to further their dreams and realise their aspirations.”

“In addition to the annual contributions of the founding partners - Bank of Valletta and Joseph Calleja - the Foundation relies on the generous response of a number of Patrons and benefactors to be able to perform its mission. This concert is our major fund raising event, and we are anticipating another sell-out event this year,” concluded Mr Chalmers.

Seats for the concert are available against a donation of €100 each. Tickets may be reserved through sending an email to i[email protected]. Benefactors who attend the concert will also have the opportunity to meet Joseph Calleja and the guest Scholars during a reception hosted at Casino Maltese following the concert.
