Music has always been an integral part of Kurt Falzon’s life. At a tender age of one and a half, he would reach the family’s piano on tiptoes and play, moving to the beat. A year later, he could sing the theme song of Weber’s musical ‘Phantom of the Opera’ together with his older sister, Kim.

Kurt was born on the 29th of December, 2002 and started piano lessons in April 2008. That same year, after being inspired by Dutch violinist and conductor, Andre’ Rieu, he started violin lessons with Dr Mario Zerafa and now he is currently studying under the tutorship of Ms Marcelline Agius, first violinist and leader of the Malta Philharmonic Orchestra. Although the violin is his main instrument, he is taking piano and theory lessons with Ms Fiona Grech, M.Ed, LTCL. He has passed all piano, violin and theory ABRSM exams with distinction and is
currently preparing for Grade 6 Violin and Theory.

Kurt has always played his violin during school concerts and is presently part of a band. At only seven years of age, Kurt played the violin with George Curmi Puse’ at a family occasion and following that, performed during a book launch. He was also asked to perform in one of Maestro Sigmund Mifsud’s concerts but sadly, broke his wrist three weeks before. Undeterred by that unfortunate mishap, Maestro Mifsud invited Kurt to perform at the
Prime Minister’s palace in Lija during an open day in 2014.

Kurt’s latest memorable event was recently in December 2014, when he played ‘Oh Holy Night’ with Malta’s renowned Tenor, Joseph Calleja as part of a BOV Joseph Calleja Foundation fundraising event. The foundation kindly presented Kurt with a new full-sized violin, a much appreciated gesture, of which, Kurt will always be grateful.
